David C. Harshaw, age 66 of Ocean City and formerly of Haddon Heights passed away suddenly at home December 12, 2020. He is survived by his devoted wife for 39 years, Leslie (nee Wilinski) and his cherished daughter, Nicole M. and her husband, Greg Porco. He was blessed with the birth of his grandson, Colin David in 2018 who affectionately called him “Poppi.” He leaves his mother-in law, Penny Mroz, siblings: Diane (William) Micken, Michael (Barbara) Harshaw and John “Brad” (Stacie) Harshaw, Sister-in-law Lori (Mark) Hansen and many nieces, nephews and dear, dear friends.
Born in Hawaii, David ‘s family moved to Haddon Heights when he was a child. David went on to graduate from Haddon Heights High School in 1972 where he was a member of the wrestling team and Senior Class President. After graduating Rutgers University early work experiences included: road construction projects on 295, flight service with Braniff Intl. Airways, a road construction project in Nigeria, Sales with Ford Motor in Pennsauken and Burroughs Corp. In 1983 David purchased Imperial Travel in Camden which he and Leslie ran more than 14 years. In 1997 Harcole, his real estate development company, was established.
David was a past President of the Haddon Heights Rotary and a member more than 20 years. He was also a longtime member of Tavistock Country Club, where David enjoyed golf occasionally and an active social life. A man with many interests, he enjoyed travel, cocktails, Frank Sinatra, his latest car, the Buick, fine dining service, a crisp monogrammed shirt, his sweet dog, Frankie, his good friends and devoted family, especially the newest light in his life, Colin. He had his own style of dancing, loved to "stir the pot” with conversations about pensions and Trump and often offered important advice about maintaining eye contact and "living life large."
Relatives and friends are invited to his Graveside Service Saturday, 11:00a.m. at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 260 W. White Horse Pike, Berlin, NJ. Attendees are respectfully asked to wear masks and social distance at the graveside.
